What is an ink-tank (supertank) printer?

Instead of cartridges it has refillable reservoirs filled from bottles of ink, trading a higher up-front price for the lowest per-page ink cost in the catalogue.

Are ink-tank printers worth it?

If you print a lot, the very low per-page cost usually pays back the higher purchase price over time. For light use, the up-front cost may not be worth it.

How much cheaper is the ink?

Bottled ink typically works out to a fraction of a cent per page, versus several cents for cartridge inkjets. Each model’s real figure is in the table.

How we rate. We don’t take manufacturer marketing at face value. Every spec here is read from the maker’s own datasheet, and every running cost is computed from a real, current cartridge price and the cartridge’s rated page yield — never estimated. Models with no trustworthy cost data are left unranked rather than filled with a guess. Sort by cost per page to see which are genuinely the cheapest to run.
